Alcohol drops

Here, iso-propanole was dripped into water. As the alcohol does not dissolve instantly in the water, the behavior is different from water-water.

No - the shutter was open for 2 seconds. The shot is taken in darkness and an external flash gives the actual exposure. You can read more at http://www.pbase.com/jakobe/drop_setup

I particularly think the last four are most representative for this effect. If the drop was water, an almost perfect circular wave would be created. Now, it almost look like "Alien"

A good thought. Number 10 and 11 seem to show this difference.
