Although this mill seems to be fairly modern, i.e. around 1950-60 or so, it seems clearly built for a small-scale operation where timber logs were transported through floatation. A large adjacent lake was used as the "timber reservoir".
The site inevitably gives the impression of a sudden bankruptcy. Although some equipment has been removed, probably as a result of looting, it seems to have been left more or less in a state of "as is".
Update 2008-06-01: Demolition is now in steady progress, although it seems a bit strange to start with the concrete structures and then go on with the machinery.
Update 2010-11: I just got a picture e-mailed, where everything is gone and the site is cleaned up. Nothing left.
