Capt. Joe and his wife built their last home, which still stands, at Jacksonville, Ga. It is said they lived on the steamboat for a while after their marriage and she would sing and play the piano as they traveled up and down the river. Sounds like they had a merry old time! They are buried at Jacksonville Cemetery, in a beautiful and serene setting.
