I am a descendent of James Wesley Yawn's younger brother Elvin Yawn born 1848. I know that when the Yawns moved down here from South Carolina they settled right near the Yawn Cemetary near Suomi. Elvin's house is still standing not too far from there. James Wesley moved off to the Rockwell community after the war. I know of a house that either belonged to him or his son that is not far from where he is buried. - Rick Talbert (2shoer@windstream.net)

My name is Charles C Roberts. My mother's maiden name was Madie Yawn. James Wesley Yawn who was married to Rebecca Rawlins Yawn was my great great grandfather's brother. His second marriage was to Cora Lowery and the third time he was married to Leigh Jump. He settled near Rebecca's home in the Rockwell community after he returned from the Civil War. He is buried in the Rockwell Cemetery along with all three of his wives. This information comes from the Book In the Piney Woods of Georgia by Patricia Yawn Lundberg. You can give us a call at 229-868-5224 or 229-868-0254.

My parents were Morgan and Meardie Yawn, descendants of James Wesley Yawn. My question is: Does anyone know where James Wesley Yawn lived? Where his house was?

My grandfather was Morgan Yawn descendant of Wesley Yawn. My other grandfather was Gergus (Gert) Smith married to Martha (Patsy)Cravey decendant of capt John Cravey, all from Telfair county. My father was Thatcher (Buck) Smith and my mother is Dorothy Yawn. I know more about the Yawns than the Craveys or Smiths. Any info will be appreciated.
