It was here that Capt. Obed Wright picked up some men to do battle with the Indians at Chehaw Village, which turned into somewhat of a massacre. Andrew Jackson wanted his hide for doing this, but John Clark turned him loose. It became a national controversy and led to heated words between Andrew Jackson and Gov. William Rabun of Georgia.
