It is said this steamboat was built by J.C. Maloy when he was only 17 years old! J.C. Maloy and his wife had two children, Louise, who married Earl Bland, and John K. John K. married a Kerr lady and they had two boys -- she died and he remarried later in life to a lady named Louise Justice in Nicholls, Ga. I discovered the original picture at Nicholls, Ga. and took a photo of it. Maybe later I can come up with a better picture but for now am glad to have it! Someone said one of John K's sons was a brain surgeon up around Atlanta -- if you have any info or corrections to above please let me know. [Photo Credit: Glynn Tanner and Family of Nicholls, Ga.] Glynn, thanks so much for this valuable contribution to our Old Jacksonville, Ga. History!
PS - This steamboat was propelled through the water by a paddle wheel at the stern but it can barely be seen in this photo -- maybe a later one will reveal it more clearly!
