World Record Bass In The Sky Sculpture

This scene is up around the Dodge County line between McRae and Eastman. I think a Mr. Grimsley did this fascinating and unusual work of art. It really took some doing and I think it is an outstanding tribute to George Perry and the World Record Bass of 1932! John Duncan Williams and I took this picture on a recent trip to the area. PS - If anyone knows more about Mr. Grimsley or this work let me know and I will put a better caption here. Thanks.

Charlie Grimsley is my uncle. He made this, and he has made many a unique thing. This rotates around and it is set so as the fisherman leans forward and back in the boat as it revolves. The red thing in the middle is an eagle fabricated from steel that balances on its beak on top of the pole. It is not attached but just well balanced. It moves around with the wind. - Rick Talbert (2shoer@windstream.net)

This folk art is located near Helena (nowhere near Dodge County) and was constructed by Charlie Grimsley. As it goes round and round, the "fisherman" rears back and his fishing rod bends.

My Grimsley's name is Charlie. He lives in the house where this is displayed.
