Dopson, Jones & Williams Connection

Many Thanks to Larry Weatherford for Photo and Info - Note Knives Present in the Photo Props

Here we have from left to right Curtis Emmitt Dopson, Robert W. Dopson, William Jackson Dopson and Leonard C. Peak Jones. Leonard was Jesse Jones brother. Leonard married Mary Eugenia Dopson sister to our ancestor Robert. William and Curtis were Robert's brothers. William was a Lieutenant in the Confederate Calvary and Curtis (usually called Emmitt) was Confederate postmaster, Robert was a Sergeant in the Confederate Artillery and later POW at Lookout Point, Leonard Jones was in the Infantry, later Sheriff of Telfair County.

Added info: Robert Dopson married Catherine McCrimmon and our great grandmother Arcadia Dopson was the daughter of Robert and Catherine. Arcadia Dopson married Andrew Williams. My grandmother Effie Williams's parents were Arcadia and Andrew. To see all children see photo under Andrew Williams.

The photo "Dopson, Jones & Williams Connection" is of particular interest; showing William Jackson Dopson. I am researching charter members of Callahan Masonic Lodge #32, Callahan, Florida (Chartered Jan 1870). Our first Worshipful Master was William J. Dopson but I have not been able to find any information about him; such as date of birth, where he was born, when he died and where he was buried. I have found there are several GA Civil War Veterans with the name W.J. Dopson but not sure which one is associated with Callahan Lodge.

Our second Master was James Fabius Clark and his was father Major General Elijah Clark.
