The Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park is a linear swamp forest. Beneath a protective canopy of bald cypress trees flows a slow moving, shallow river or slough that shelters a high level of rare and endangered tropical plant species.
The Main Tram Trail was 2 miles in through the swamp and cypress forest, with a lake at the end and a cabin - the Fakahatchee Hilton - 4 miles round trip
