Old phone, new phone 02/27/07

Tallahassee / Quincy, Florida

What you see here on the right hand side is my wife’s brand new phone that she just had delivered today, and on the left my old cell phone that was delivered along with her old phone a little over a year ago. My phone of course still works perfectly … the result I suppose of my care of a fine electronic piece of equipment. My wife’s phone in the same period of time has totally died, disconnecting anyone that should dial into it. This just goes to show the superior care a guy takes care of fine electronic equipment and the total disregard that women show to similar equipment in the same time frame. Of course, she would tell you that my phone still works properly because no one calls me and she receives many calls a day … but that of course is just her opinion.

Hey, taking care of fine electronic equipment …
It’s a guy thing of course!

Check this out John. I thought what the heck I would see if there are any on Ebay. Sure enough there was one exactly like my Grandmothers. And the seller is even from my home town of Roanoke, VA. Too funny. I think I am going to get it. I can see this being a totally funny prop in a model shoot.

Dosen't it just burn you up that things just don't last anymore? See what we have agreed to. Accepting that this is the way it is. Think back to the standard black rotary dail phone. That thing was a brick and you could take dozens of calls on it every day forever and it wouldn't break. I am guessing the only reason that we still can't get them is cause they have gone out of favor for not being "stylish". I resisted going to a cell phone for years, mainly cause I just didn't want to be in constant touch with the world. But I rolled over, got one and I gotta say I am hooked. But it still pisses me off that they dang things only last a couple of years. I want my old black rotary brick in a cell. Matter of fact I think that would be a great idea. Just ebay some of those old phones and take the guts out of my cell and put it in one of those and ofcourse keep the curly cord to the handset. Now can't ya just see me walkin down the mall with that!
