The "Shekere" is a basic shaker which has a net of little shells placed over the resonating gourd. Like the cymbal fork on the left side, a geographical origin for the model on the photo is unknown, but the instrument is known under many names like "cabasa" or "afuxe" in Latin America and Africa (namely Ghana and Nigeria).
