P1000333.jpg

The "Qeej" consists of a wooden wind chest called "taub" and the six bamboo tubes with a metall reed called "ntiv" (which simply means "finger"). Playing traditions for this instrument know two genres of Qeej music: With or withour spoken/sung text. The first one is important as it still reveals the close relationship between speech and Hmong music.
