Volcanic islands of western Italy

Sandy shores on the string of volcanic islands that runs down Italy's western coast.

It begins south of Rome with Ponza and Ventotene - off Lazio - then Campania's
Ischia and Procida, in an alignment that roughly follows the mainland coastline,
to point eventually towards Vesuvius....

Off to the south, the other nearly island, Capri, isn't volcanic but part of
the Sorrento peninsula - separated from the mainland in prehistory.
