A collection of photos from many visits... including a few from the Abbey where,
after a robbery, they no longer allow the use of cameras
:: Procida - January 2011 ::
A gorgeous winter's morning over on the island of Procida, to welcome in the New Year
Our first visit to the Museo "Ciro Manzueto" - up near the Terra Murata - which houses
a collection of figures and other elements from floats made for the Good Friday
"Procession of the Mysteries", and a wander back through the sidestreets.
More captions, and a tidy-up, eventually!

An orphanage, an abbey and a prison - photos taken in the oldest, and highest, part of the island of Procida
Nearly all - except the views from the sea - taken during a visit in late October 2008

:: Procida - Good Friday 2003 ::
Each year the people of Procida stage a huge procession of decorated tableaux - I Misteri -
which takes several hours to snake down from the Terra Murata through the town's narrow

Map of Procida and Vivara
The "Original" size version of this should be large enough to print.
As an idea of scale, the area of Procida is c.4 km2 - less than 2 sq miles.
The tiny islet of Vivara - off the northwestern corner of Procida
and the site of a submerged neolithic settlement - is a nature
reserve, and only very rarely reachable over the bridge which
links the two.
