:: Rediscovering Norfolk ::
Pictures taken since our return to Norwich
:: Norwich ::
The main population and administrative centre of Norfolk, the sticky-out bit
on England's eastern coast, some 100 miles north of London - celebrated for
being "A fine city"...
:: ... Ischia .. ::
Many pictures and some information about Ischia - largest of the islands in the Bay of Naples, our home for a decade from 2003 to 2013.
Most of the images on this page lead to a themed gallery: to open one, just click on it.
With those photos, the 'Original' size will show most detail, but may take longer to load....
:: Campania ::
In this gallery
- Paestum's Greek temples...
- Roman ruins at Pompeii, Oplontis, Herculaneum, Boscoreale and throughout the Campi Flegrei...
- the modern cities of Naples, Sorrento, Caserta, Pozzuoli, Salerno, Capua, Benevento
- and more...
:: Rome, and Lazio ::
As well as Italy's glorious capital, the Regione of Lazio has many other attractions
for visitors - from inland hill towns to the islands of Ventotene and Ponza.
Click on these initial pictures to open each separate gallery of photos - mostly
central Rome on the first page, with places beyond there on the second...
Once in those galleries, use the 'next' and 'previous' links to move through them!
:: Puglia ::
This is the region that forms the ankle and heel of the Italian boot, with a long
Mediterranean coastline that faces out onto the Adriatic and Ionian seas and runs
down to the Gulf of Taranto.
Highlights include the trulli - bizarrely shaped peasant homes - of Alberobello, cathedral
cities north of Bari such as Trani and, in the south, the gloriously baroque city of Lecce.
Photos from several visits since 2001 : after the first two maps, click on any of the other
thumbnails to go to collections from each particular area or theme...
:: A taste of Sicily ::
Galleries of photos from just a few of this island's many delights...
Cities such as Palermo, Catania, Syracusa, Agrigento and Cefalu - as well
as smaller islands, like Favignana, Pantelleria, Lipari... and other Aeolians
Simply click on the pictures here to open any one of them
:: Italy in black and white ::
:: Theatres and amphitheatres ::
Greek and Roman remains from across Europe
:: White arches ::
A small collection of photos, inspired by "Mediterranean Vernacular: A Vanishing Architectural Tradition"(*)
Buildings constructed mostly, or entirely, from whatever materials are available locally,
often following the contours of the landscape... characterised by the white villages and
towns to be seen from one end of Mare Nostrum to the other - even if, today, they're
painted in many more colours...

:: For travel forums... ::
Images of various sorts, to illustrate discussions - mostly about Italy,
and mostly either here: __http://www.fodors.com/community/europe/italy/
