The wonderful 'La Mortella' gardens in the grounds of the home built by the late English
composer, Sir William Walton, and his Argentinian-born wife Lady Susana, near Forio, on
the island of Ischia in the Bay of Naples.
These pictures have been taken on several visits, over a number of years. For more about
the couple, the gardens and also the work of the William Walton Foundation and Trust,

To allow staff time to work, the gardens only open on certain days of each week...
The 2013 year runs from Thursday 28 March until Sunday 3 November, with the gardens
opening on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays - from 9.00 to 19.00.

On March 21 2010, at the age of 83, Lady Walton - ever a charismatic figure in the worlds of
gardening and of music - passed away peacefully at her home. According to her wishes, her ashes
have been buried close to those of her husband, in the Nymphaeum on the mountainside at La Mortella.
