Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn
Entrance to the Acquarium at the Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn, in the Villa Comunale.
This research centre was named after the prominent German Darwinist who was its founder
and first director - financing it by the innovative "Bench" system that did so much to
boost its international standing.
There's an offshoot study centre and laboratory on the island of Ischia, housed in the
large red building overlooking the harbour entrance at Ischia Porto.

Farmers' Market in the grounds of the Villa Comunale
That Sunday, the Italian agricultural association, Coldiretti, were staging one of
their "Farmers' Markets in the Villa Comunale - regular events that year.
More recently they've used a site in Piazza Dante, in the centre of the city!
Unusually, the fruit and vegetables were being sold at a set price across the whole
market, rather than each vendor setting their own individual rates.
