Such a pity; only a year or so after its restoration, and the fountain of the turtles is already looking rather sad

Constructed during the 1580s, the Fontane delle Tartarughe (Turtle Fountain) - located in
Piazza Mattei, in Rome's Sant'Angelo district - didn't originally feature the turtles:
those were added as part of a restoration a century later.
Several have had to be replaced over the years due to theft, and more recently the structure
was the subject of preservation work that again revealed its full glory - only to now look
like....
