Tastes change and artworks from the recent past are easily be overlooked despite their merits.
This fountain - near the harbour of Ischia Porto - is just such a case.
Look a little closer and you'll see a portrayal of Ischia's main features - its maritime
tradition, symbolised by the overall design as a boat and the rich harvest of fish: some of
the many shades of blue taken on by the sea and skies; torrents of thermal springwater
as found in the many spas and parks and - unfortunately lost in my photograph -
the influence of Typhon, the giant whose imprisonment under the island reputedly caused its volcanic nature.
