At the height of the season (only), Trenitalia offer a combined land and sea
ticket for passengers travelling to Ischia, Sorrento etc...
When their train arrives in Naples, they're met and taken to where a shuttlebus
ferries them to the port - and to catch the next hydrofoil to their destination.
This is one of the buses, waiting for the next group of passengers to arrive,
at the side entrance to the 'Napoli Centrale' station.

Bad weather cancellations
After bad weather overnight, Alilauro are showing several cancellations amongst their early morning
services - the hydrofoils going to or from Forio (here on the island), and Mergellina (in Naples).
Both are small ports, with approaches that can be difficult in the wrong conditions, but each has a
nearby alternative: Ischia Porto here, and Beverello in Naples.
Where a route is marked with "avverse condimeteo", click on the placenames to see the state of play
through the day - and you should get a screen that looks something like this one.
The orange text shows ones that are affected....
Today being a Sunday, the 07:10 wouldn't run anyway - but all those that should leave from 09:10 to
16:15 have been cancelled.. and it may subsequently be necessary to cancel others.

What I call "Ischia Ponte"
Not sure that there is an official division of the Comune, but this is the area I think of as being "Ponte" - as against Porto, Cartoromana etc etc
Alibus - at a stop it's now NOT using
This (taken in early September 2010) shows the now-disused Alibus stop in front of the
gardens of the San Carlo Theatre/Opera House... actually on Via San Carlo - the short
stretch of road that runs from nearby Piazza Municipio (through to Piazza Trieste e
Trento, where the bus used to turn round, before stopping where shown in the photo!
In the far background you can see one of the entrances to the Galleria Umberto I...
Some guidebooks may say that's still in use but, for details as of early 2013, try:
The old bus stop - and the way to the port
2012: No longer used by the Alibus, but showing the sign to look for at its new stop
down by the port, near Molo Beverello - from where the hydrofoils run to Ischia etc!
In the background, Castel Nuovo.
