The Porto - Ponte - Porto bus, number 7
This is roughly what it does during the shoulder seasons...
such as from April 2011 until the high-season version kicks in!
Ischia Porto and Ischia Ponte
Published in 2006 and a bit difficult to find now, this bi-lingual (Italian and English) guidebook is about as detailed as you'll get
Approximate dates of the island's summer festas
Fairly often several days of celebrations - both secular and religious - will span the
particular date that's shown....
Timetable reproduced from "Ischia - i sentieri della luce" - a leaflet published
in 2009, with a welcome message from the Bishop of Ischia, available for download
It's also a very good source of information about the island's many places of worship!
Tourist presences in the province of Naples, by comune - 2004
Note that this shows "bed-nights" and not visitor arrivals!
When the Ischian kids are and aren't around....
(Awaiting replacement of original 2011/12 school calendar with one for the current year)
Some days off are purely a local affair - others are fixed as Regional, or National, holidays,
The normal school week runs from Monday (Lunedi, "LU") through to Saturday
(Sabato, "SA"), however - as if to confuse things - this year lots of Italian
schools are testing out how well a 5 day week works for them!
Ponte's taxis boats - 2009 to 2011
These were the charges, for single journeys and hire rates,
on display at the base of the local water taxis - near the
Hotel Miramare e Castello - in Ischia Ponte back in 2009.
Checking again in August 2011, I see they've not changed!
