Although the island is only about 7 miles by 4, much of its coastline
is fringed with popular bathing beaches, interspersed - particularly
to the south - with narrow inlets and tall cliffs that plunge straight
into the Mediterranean.
The exception on the southern coast is one long sandy stretch which runs
all the way from Maronti to Sant'Angelo.
Ferragosto week - Spiaggia dei Pescatori
Probably our favourite place for a quick swim, or a morning's sunbathing, the
often-chaotic public piece of shore (whose name translates as 'Fishermens' Beach)
- at the end of Ischia Ponte furthest from the Castello Aragonese islet.
Fishermens' beach - just beginning to get busy
Taken from Bar Bruno, one of the island's most popular spots with a great view over
the Spiaggia dei Pescatori, towards the Castello Aragones and Ischia Ponte.

At the spiaggia del Miramare e Castello - the public
stretch of beach near the hotel of that name.
