Museo Barracco

This small museum - on Corso Vittorio Emanuele, near the Campo de'Fiori - houses
a collection of Egyptian, Assyrian, Etruscan, Cypriot, Greek, Roman and medieval
art and statuary that was brought together during the 19th century by Giovanni Barracco -
the son of a wealthy Calabrian family, who would subsequently donate it to the city of
Rome, in 1902.

After a move or two, the artefacts arrived where we see them today, in the elegant
"Farnesina ai Baullari" - a C15th palazzo built for the French prelate, Thomas le Roy
(which, despite the name, has no connection to the Farnese family, nor their nearby
palace - or the piazza there!).

Most of these now have a few notes but - for more details - try the museum's very
good website __ http://en.museobarracco.it/
