A land of water. Even the airport runaway has water spaces everywhere. We managed to enjoy three days of cycling, although one day we were caught in the rain, and spent two hours waiting in a restaurant in Monnikendam. However the day when we cycled to Zaandvoort, the beach town west of Haarlem was simply the hottest and dryest day of the week.
Day 1 Around Amsterdam Centrum
Day 2 North Amsterdam to Broek in Waterland and Monnickendam
I enjoyed your gallery very much. I live in Edam. It's not far away from Monnickendam and Broek in Waterland and I find it very funny how you manage to take a fresh look at all things in our with water filled land. Very nice photography. I hope you have had a nice holiday and pay a visit to our wonderful city. Have a look:http://www.pbase.com/denak/around_edam
Thank you for your comments. The names of places are all recalled from memory because I left the map to my son who's still in Amsterdam, and who needs it to continue cycling during his weekends. One thing I didn't like about Amsterdam, though. The weather. My son says you must always carry with you an umbrella, even when it's sunny outside.
