The temperature was so cold here, it was full gear most of the time, except when in our
sleeping bags. This was to be our shortest rest, arriving in late afternoon and starting out
again at 11:00 pm in the evening. Scheduled to reach the peak by early morning after sunrise.
Coldest time during the climb was around 4:00am and even our K2 socks couldn't insulate our
toes from the numbing minus 10 deg coldness. Ice flakes began to form in our water bottles by
midnight. Without vacuum flasks, we got painful throats by time we reached the peak. Energy food
like powerbar and powergel became too hard to swallow and get stuck in our throats.
