Too close to background

I don't get the opportunity to photograph children very often, so when my neighbor said her grandkids were coming for a visit I asked if I could take pictures of them, intending for them to come to my house where I could shoot them in front of a canvas backdrop - well away from it and with multiple flash. She asked me to come to her house and the room in which this picture was taken did not offer anything plain for a background so I draped a blanket over a chair and got the kids as far away as possible from it (not much). Flash was on camera with a Gary Fong Lightsphere on it. "Deer in the headlight" eye glints are a dead giveaway that the flash was on the camera. Not crazy about those! Was delighted with the expressions, but wished the lighting and background had been different. Update: One of the members of my Digipets group was kind enough to convert this to black and white and move the eye glints. Not only does it look better in b/w, but the fixing of the eye glints, especially improves the shot. Check it out:

The cuteness makes up for everything you don't like Isabel.
