IMG_5459 Three Culture Containers

The black fabric is a cut-off piece of hose, which was recommended as an air-permeable barrier to keep the flies in the container, which in this case had three air holes punched in the top with an ice pick. The middle container is the original plastic vial in which my mantis egg (ootheca) was delivered. The right container originally held Japanese seaweed sprinkle. I cut a whole in the plastic top and put a thin piece of sponge packing material under it.

I like the idea here. Perhaps we will use the hose idea for the young Entomologist's "friends". You are far more brave than I.. even tho I will seek out bugs for the young one, I just can't do maggots. Blech! Looking forward to seeing more from your extension tubes. (and your garden)
