Thanks Peeka.jpg

This is dedicated to Peeka, who showed us what persistence can do when you're trying to get shots of hummingbirds. I set the camera to macro and was probably a couple to three feet away from the bird. (It wouldn't focus at this distance if I didn't have it on macro). Set the internal flash to low, chose a focus box to the left of the feeder. Just waited for a hummer to arrive, since they seem very curious when I'm out of the deck. This lady wasn't bothered at all by the flash. I was, since it took a long time to recycle and the bird really hung around for a long time. I got one more good one, next.

If you think this is pretty good, check out these images taken with the little Canon A610 by someone on the Canon Talk forum at dpreview.com: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1010&message=19337548

I noticed that the girls are braver about hanging around than the boys are.
I also noticed the girls are out in the morning & the boys in the evening.
