I think I was bugging him

Gary tells me that when a wasp has its butt in the air it's a defensive posture, so shortly after I shot this one I took off. This is the first time I've seen this and it came after I took a whole strong of flash shots - the light must have bothered him.

Can really see the eyes on the larvae, how cool. Wish it was a side shot to see how high she has raised here tail.

Look at all those little wasps growning in there...thats cool. Have you tried an extension tube with the 300mm yet? My dog Buddy got stung several times today by yellow jackets, poor thing didnt know what got him.

Not really brave...I am 4.9 feet away from the nest and they don't dive bomb me (or at least they haven't yet...and paper wasps are not yellow jackets. I respect those nasty creatures....give them wide berth!
