So Smart

So Smart

The ambient lighting conditions were difficult. The early morning sun was just beginning to stream through half close blinds behind Beegie. There was a rim of sun outlining her fur and she really looked beautiful in the otherwise pretty dark room. In the past I would have exposed for the sun and then lightened her face with a shadow adjustment. In this case, I grabbed the camera, forgetting to lift the catchlight panel, turned on the flash and just clicked, leaving all settings as they had been the night before. I didn't realize that I had a +2/3 FEC on the flash. Fortunately, I took the image in RAW and was able to lower the exposure. I think had I not had that +2/3 FEC I might have seen more of that sun fringe on her fur. I labeled this "So Smart" because the 580ex is absolutely the smartest flash I have ever used. I am thrilled with it. (And, yes, my computer area is usually this organized!)
