_MG_8501 Finally - A Decent Towhee Picture!

These birds have been even harder to capture than pileated woodpeckers.

Went out this morning to survey damage from last night's hailstorm and to pick up the morning paper. I heard a bird in the tree in front of the house, and saw that it was an elusive towhee.

Ran in the house to get my camera which had a 300mm lens on it, plus a Tamron 1.4X teleconverter which I hadn't used in years.

Just my luck, he flew on top of a young weeping red birch tree and stayed there for many, many pictures.

I am beside myself with glee!

A wonderful capture. Can you imagine, we got the Towhee, a rare bird here in Montreal area, yesterday.

This is a winning photo, Isabel! You caught his expression! He's saying "what the heck are you doing?" It's beautiful, simply beautiful...that's a bird with attitude! V

I know from experience how very hard it is to capture these illusive birds with the camera. I think I only have two good shots of them. This is excellent Isabel!

That was like a gift from heaven, and with your skills and luck you were able to take total advantage of it! Congrats, Isabel!!! Carlee
