I've used a non-feathered rectangular selection around the area I wish to scale. Note: If there is not enough image size to stretch into you will have to first enlarge the area by using the crop tool after you've selected the entire image to drag out the image to make room for the stretching. Be aware that if you stretch too much the background might look a bit distorted. Click on "next" to see how Photoshop has amazingly filled in the needed space.
