An oft-photographed site, made famous, I suspect, by Ansel Adams photograph of this structure.
To get to Chaco Canyon one has to travel on a 20-mile, seriously rutted dirt road, that makes it very difficult to arrive at the destination. The road is left in that condition to discourage visitors who would inevitably destroy the ancient ruins at the site, planned and constructed in stages between AD 850 to AD 1150 by ancestral Puebloan peoples. (EXIF time is most likely wrong because I didn't change the time in the camera.)
