_MG_1202 Male Yellow Shafted Northern Flicker

(The female doesn't have the black spot next to the beak.)
I wish I didn't have to use such a high ISO (because of dark morning light and gray tinted windows that make me lose a full f-stop of light. As a result I have to use noise reduction (in this case Noise Ninja) which removes some of the feather detail...but I was happy with this birds expression as it eyed the log feeder, waiting for a pileated woodpecker to finish his visit.

Wonderful capture of this very pretty bird Isabel. V
