DSCF6215 Wheat Grass Snack

Cats like wheat grass and pet stores sell kits to grow it. I bought wheat berries at the supermarket, soaked about 1/4 cup in a Mason Jar overnight, drained it, set the jar on its side with the bottom elevated so it could drain and placed it on a kitchen counter. I rinsed off the berries once a day. When the sprouts were about an inch tall I took the block of seedlings out of the jar and just laid it on top of a pot on my deck. You can get a lid to screw on a wide-mouth Mason jar here: http://www.amazon.com/Sprouting-Strainer-Lid-Wide-mouth-Sprouter/dp/B000N8MRW8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1251638408&sr=8-1 or you can put cheesecloth over the opening. It really took off then and I cut off a few inches each day to give to the kitties.

Fascinating! I did not know that cats enjoyed grass, too.

I guess it grows much ike bean sprouts which I have done. My cats go outside and eat grass and then throw up sometimes so I could never give it to them in the house.
