Mainly to see how the A610 compares to the Sony H5, which I am testing.
Update: The H5 went back two days after it arrived. It was a heck of a lot easier and more fun using the A610 and I prefer the picture quality and handling of the A610. Despite the image stabilization with the H5, I found it harder to get sharp shots at lower shutter speeds. I do better with the A610. Two things I will miss about the H5: larger lcd and longer zoom.
