I was going from village to village in North Western Cambodia hoping to capture some portraits of local people. There was a lot of hupla going on at the edge of one village so I walked over and realized that the Cock Fights were taking place.
I do not condemn or condone the sport. It is part of life in Cambodia and I accept it as such. As a visitor to their country I try to be as non-judgemental as possible.
They were concerned about my flash scaring the chickens so I had to shoot without proper lighting, in very crowded conditions, and holding the camera with one hand. The quality of the shots is poor but it does document one piece of life in the Cambodian country side.
