Our first winter visit to Grand Canyon was in very heavy fog. We couldn't see anything beyond the ridges of the canyon. There were just a few minutes when the fog cleared from part of the canyon just enough to let some sunshine through which allowed for a few interesting shots but then it quickly closed in again.

We decided to come back a couple of weeks later to give it another try. After standing in 10 deg.F weather in a 35 mph wind waiting for the sunrise that never came, we figured we'd wait it out back at the hotel. Unfortunately the sky remained overcast for the rest of the day so we struck out due to poor lighting.
But regardless, somehow we managed to enjoy ourselves!
