1994 December Cajon Pass Accident

At 05:20, 12/14/94, a westbound ATSF intermodal train lost control in Cajon Pass, California, and impacted the rear of a westbound UP unit coal train just below Highway 138 between Alray and Cajon. The ATSF engines were DASH 8-40BW 576, GP60M 144, F45U 5976 and FP45U 96. The UP engines, helpers on the rear of the train, were SD40-2s 3341 and 3354. All six (6) units involved in the accident burned. All photos taken by Brian Kreimendahl on 12/22/94.
