The Laing Homestead

This has been on my "list" for some time now. I have seen many images of the "Laing Homestead" and I just had to capture some for myself. I planed to shoot this on the way back from Calgary AB. with Bart "tagging" along. Bobby Scott gave us some great directions thanks Bobby. Bobby say's that Rose Paynter-Laing grew up in this house and is now about to turn 92 years old and blind. So watch me has I explore this home and see it through my eyes and lens enjoy .

These are fantastic photos! I have seen images of this house on various website so took a drive up to Carbon yesterday and spent a few hours driving around the area with no luck. Would you be so kind to share the directions with me? It would be a joy to get to shoot this beautiful old home.

I came accross your web site, i would have to say you've inspired me too get out and shoot more photos like this. is there ayway that you could pass along the diretions to this house? i would really appreciate it. i've planned a trip for this may long weekend, and this is on my list. help a fellow brother out? thanks mike

Can I get directions to this location as I think it would be great to do my girl friends portraits in such an amazing place.... Best part is I'm only 2 hours north of there. Thanks and great photos

Thank you so much for these. This home was purchased in the early 1900's by my Great-Great-Grandfather, and grandmother, Thomas Balmer Laing, and Rose Paynter Laing. She died at the age of forty-four, of dyptheria, but her daughter Mollie did have diabetes and she went blind. She passed away at a very ripe old age. Rose Paynter Laing was the first woman to travel the Rockies alone, on horseback. So thankyou, very much for putting these pictures up. Its where my family came from.
