It's Only Past The Fence

This image pretty much breaks all the rules...photographically speaking. Look at it....house almost perfectly centred, fence post cutting into the image and that ugly wire out of focus fence.....
But you put all the elements in this image together and it works. The sloping horizon line behind the house, trees fill the corners building up the image with the clouds in the back-ground, it all starts to fill-in the rule of thirds.
Now the fence and post make sense.
I saw this image with-in seconds..thats how my photographic brain works!!!! You can do this too....really you can....

Just goes to show that rules are made to be broken.....but only after you've learned and applied them for a long time.

Great image and words to explain it. I also feel that the fence post, wire and the "direction" of the foreground weeds help to send your eye back to the house nestled between the trees/shrubs.

Not without being able to see things this way naturally --- more examples from you will help. I know I would have screwed this up by NOT including the post and wire. Good stuff, Mike. Well seen.
