These are nice compared to when I served on this ship. We had a piece of canvas lashed to a rectangular frame and on top of that a thin mattress with a mattress cover ("fart sack") and if you were lucky a pillow and wool blanket. The small locker was all we had for all of our clothes. The racks ("bunks") pictured here have storage under each one.
