These are descendants of imported turtles thru petshops before EEC interdiction regulation (dec 1996).
As they grow fast, some owners released it in the wild, ignoring that this species was going to create a real problem with the local ecosystem.
Obviously, they have a successful way to get round the law!

Si ces tortues sont relachées dans la nature par leurs propriétaires, elles créent de réels dégâts à l'écosystème local.
Leur importation en Europe est interdite depuis décembre 1996.
On peut voir ici qu'elles ont un moyen irrésistible pour contourner la loi!
