Ah, that fabulous semi wide angle Zeiss Flektogon again ! And how could it fail in a Pentax Spotmatic F. I never used the F, but i never forget the Spotmatic 1000 I started out with as a pro in 1966, with another top lens of all time - the Super Tacumar 50mm 1.4. No Nikon lens could compare with it at the time, certainly not for colour. That Super Tak in my young hands (I was 19 at the time) stood up against a Zeiss Tessar toting Hasselblad !!! That super tak, in my considered opinion, after all these years, the greatest lens for colour ever made, and still the best, the number one today in 2008. It wasn't that contrasty so wasn't the best for B&W shots for newspaper reproduction, I used a praktika with tessar for those, being lreally limited in means having only my Munster Express (Waterford, Ireland) freelance photo and journalist work as my mainstay, plus some wedding albums, and the odd assignment from the Dublin newspapers like the irish Times, irish Independent and the former irish Press. God, those really were poor days in Ireland. But despite our poverty, and our inability to buy the best of equipment, our photography was far superior then to what is produced now, especially in press photo work. Anything instant from a digital will do a newspaper today !
