The hinge studs on my 5x15 have been ground flush with the back of the inner flange. To provide room to tighten the hinges, if necessary, I countersunk 5/8" holes in the teak underneath the hinge studs. There seems to be plenty of stud thread so if you don't use the teak a fair amount of the stud can be ground down to accommodate hinge depth adjustment,
