This photo shows the tail feathers (albeit blurred). These distinguish Allen's from Rufous, even in females; the two outermost feathers are much narrower on this species. Also, the second tail feather out from the center, R2, is spear-shaped (lanceolate) whereas the Rufous R2 is notched, as seen here: http://www.pbase.com/image/95431365 .
