Twisted trees #1

About an hour and a half's drive from Saskatoon, there is a grove of trembling aspen (a.k.a. white poplar to most Prairie folk) that has the most grotesque, deformed trees. In the grove, which is about 50' x 100' or so, each and every tree is twisted and distorted--even the young saplings. Scientists have yet to come up with a complete explanation for this mysterious condition [more info at http://home.cc.umanitoba.ca/~remphre/crooked.shtml ]. Interestingly, about 50' away is another grove of the same species, which has perfectly normal trees.
