Don't Follow The Fate Of That Turtle, Arenal Volcano

Driving in Costa Rica is not fun. Once you get off the main road, the driving becomes a true challenge. Serpantines of dirt roads without pavement are running at 15 to 30 degree inclines, the potholes are all over the place and could be as deep as 12-20", very often the width of the road does not allow 2 vehicles to pass by in either direction, mudslides could be seen almost every 10th kilometer or so, the road signs are very rare and extremely confusing, so it's total nightmare... One wrong turn of steering wheel or poor decision will send the car in to either a flight from the edge of cliff, or, best case scenario, serious accident... Unless you are very experienced and good driver don't commit suicide by jumping behind the wheel of the car in Costa Rica, and also never ever drive in the night time, you'll never make it to destination !

Anita, not all those brave explorers ever crossed this bridge without losing their limbs or more, but I did... For challenging minds I could offer an centennial depiction of the way I drive the carhttp://www.pbase.com/eldarrio/image/51686281 , LOL !

Look at the size of those boulders behind.....by the looks of it some little ones have caught the sign at some time! Presume you turned around here?
