All That Remains

As day turned into night, I couldn't help but notice the Entomologist's excitement over viewing "The Red Moon". We have been waiting for this day for little more than a week. It was, to say the least, the highlight of our month, so far.

As I walked outside to see if the eclipse could be viewed from our front yard, there he stood, staring up at the big sky with the most intense look on his face. He was ready, and he was ready NOW. So, I asked him if he would like to come inside to help me gather a few things to make our viewing of this heavenly event more comfortable, and he replied YES!. So we grabbed a large blanket to put on the ground, popped a bowl of pop corn, grabbed our coats and a couple pillows and we were off.

It was WONDERFUL! My Mom, my husband,Picasso, the Entomologist and me, camped out on the front lawn laying on our backs watching the moon slowly turn red. Lucky for us, the predicted cloudy night was just another forecast gone bad.

"Do you see that bright star there?" I asked

"Yes, Mommie, isn't it beautiful!" Entomologist replied

"It's more than just a star, it's Saturn." I said

"You mean the one with the rings?" he excitedly

"Yep, isn't that great!"

"Mommie, I think I can see the rings". He replied

It was worth the boys not going to bed until almost 11pm. It was worth every single minute of excitement.

The Entomologist later said to me, "Mommie this was the best night of my life."
"It's mine too sweetpea, mine too."

It's moments like these that I wish I could freeze and hold onto for just a few more years. It's the best feeling in the world, to see the excitement on their faces when they are amazed with nature.

....it's even better when he whispers in my ear that I am the best Mommie on earth....

That's what I am talking about. You weren't necessarily obligated to shoot the moon but you were obligated to take a picture of the event. Nice work. Good times.
