Carole megirl even though B&W is the best photography we mustn't always think in B&W. The focal point here works for a part thereof picy because we can see the rest of the plant it's a part of. A bit like RKs lizard picy which is another whole focal point that works as part thereof. Unlike a whole eye which is called an eye, wot would we call this tip? Every whole would have a name, even if this tip has a name none of us has ever heard of it so it's on topic:-)hehe

Thanks dt and Mary Anne :-) I'm pretty sure footed with my grippy mountaineering snow shoes Mary Anne, so I felt fairly safe with my camera gear in my backpack. However, my buddy and I usually take shortcuts running down through the snow chutes on the way down- I didn't push my luck doing doing so on this trip :-)

Great shot, Brent! But weren't you worried taking all that expensive equipment snowshoeing with you? Or maybe you're just not as klutzy with such activities as I am. :-)

"Once I saw the image on-screen I was pleased with the result." I'd be pleased, too! It's a very nice shot. dtallakson

Thanks folks :-) I shot this on a snowshoeing excursion and was able to shoot the very tip of this tall fir tree because it had been pushed over and mostly buried by a small avalanche. I hadn't tried getting good bokeh with this lens before, but thought the various colors hit by sunlight and especially the ice crystals might make an interesting shot if the lens could pull it off. Once I saw the image on-screen I was pleased with the result.

You're lucky that tyrant Rod didn't say this was off topic Brent with having the focal point being in the whole frame instead of a "part"! Nice image and love the colors and bokeh! :-) CJ

I really like this one - the contrast of the spiky top and the blurred lower area. What were you standing on? Would be an interesting angle to shoot a decorated Christmas tree...claire

I wouldn't go as far as our Penny but this does work for the topic a. I would say this is a nice picy:-)

Well done Brent. That lens creates nice round bokeh. -COAmature
